The video, created in partnership with the Department of Conservation (DOC), highlights the impact of New Zealand’s biodiversity crisis through the story of a young girl named Janey and a lost CGI takahē known as Mr T.
As well as winning fans down under, the video has captured the attention of millions around the world, including North and South America, China, Singapore, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Air New Zealand General Manager Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams says it’s fantastic to see this latest offering resonate with so many.
“It’s been great to work with our longtime partner DOC to share the really important message that our native wildlife needs our help, and I know they’re as delighted as we are to see this video really soar.
“Feedback through our social channels has also been really positive with comments such as ‘my fave safety vid!’, ‘one of the best I’ve seen’ and ‘made me homesick.'”
DOC Threatened Species Ambassador Nicola Toki says, “We are facing a global biodiversity crisis and the reach of this safety video raises awareness of some of the work that goes into helping our taonga species here in Aotearoa. Hopefully this gets people thinking about how they might contribute in their place in the world.”
