The new feature helps one navigate through listings to focus on the ones that have been deemed as Business Travel Ready (BTR). BTR homes and apartments are defined by possessing a workspace or desk, Wi-Fi and 24-hour check-in among other facilities. Also, these properties include entire homes so that corporate travellers can enjoy the space entirely to themselves or even share with their team.
Airbnb has said that it over 150,000 BTW listings all across the globe.
Users would be required to have their work email associated to their Airbnb account in order to access the new feature. They would also be capable of registering as business travellers via the official website for Airbnb that is meant for business travellers.
As per the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the U.S. business travel spending that exceeded $290 billion last year is expected to ascend by over 4% in 2017.
Additionally, David Holyoke, the head of Airbnb’s business travel division feels that the number of people utilizing the site for corporate purposes is expected to quadruple this year.
Over 250,000 companies in more than 230 nations have already started using it.
Initially it was launched in July 2014.
The business travel program of Airbnb witnessed a significant growth in its first year. As many as 500 companies signed within 24 hours of the launch. Last summer Airbnb for Business declared partnerships with American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), Carlson Wagonlit Travel and BCD Travel as part of an industry-first achievement. It marked the first time travel management brands that have added home-sharing accommodations to conventional business travel programs.
