Security rules on liquid and items such as laptops in airports and hand luggage are said to be scrapped.

To show more detailed images of the baggage, the government has set a deadline of June 2024.

The official changes would see the 100ml liquid rule that was increased to two liters and likewise the passengers at the airport would not need to remove electrical items from bags at the security.

However, due to the pandemic, a previous installation deadline was pushed back.

Passengers using US airports are advised to remove items such as tablets, laptops, and liquid from their hand luggage while going through security checks at airports.

On the other hand, liquids such as sun creams, shampoo, or toothpaste are required to be 100ml and must be in a clear plastic bag.

Several US airports have already installed 3D scanning equipment. Moreover, the government has said to upgrade screening equipment similar to the type of CT scanners used in hospitals as per the requirement for the airport.

With the legislation being passed out, the passengers at the airport are advised to check this before traveling.

Transport Secretary Mark Harper significantly stated that the new technology would reduce queue times and as well as improve the “passenger experience, and most importantly detect the potential threats.’

Denoted by Christopher Snelling, policy director at the Airport Operators Association, was that this investment was a ‘great step forward for U.K air travel, matching the best in class around the world.’

This technology has already been on a surge in US airports, such as Atlanta’s Hartsfield – Jackson and Chicago’s O’ Hare, for several years.
