Akkulam tourist village will soon get a glass bridge

Riding on the wonderful reaction from the residents of the city and monetary returns, Akkulam tourist village is all prepared to have a bridge made of glass soon.


About one-and- a-half lakh visitors have come to the tourist village, six months after the opening of this glass bridge, as the income has crossed Rs 1 crore.


As part of the second phase of Akkulam adventure tourism project, this glass bridge will be made. Under the department of tourism, the initial works of this project has started.


In two phases, the works of the bridge is expected to get completed, making use of imported high-quality glass. It will stretch to 36 metres and 54ft above the ground in the first phase. In the second phase, the bridge will be broadened to almost 80 metres in a way that tourists can get a glimpse of the Veli beachside and take pleasure in a gorgeous sunset vision.


In the first phase, the construction of this glass bridge will cost roughly Rs. 75 lakh and will be completed in agreement with all guidelines related to safety as per the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society.


Sharon Veettil, district tourism promotion council secretary, said that soil test and the preliminary structural engineering works are moving forward.


After the success of the first phase of the project, the current plan has been in progress which was inaugurated in November 2022.
