Eldevina Materrula, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mozambique, told the radio that this is part of the initiation of the government to start again the financial activities phase by phase, and this is expected to increase the numbers to 11,000.
“Activities in the tourism sector had almost stopped completely due to the effects and restrictions related to COVID-19. With the reopening of the country’s air space, we believe that normalization will return to this sector,” said Materrula.
Also, the minister urged tourism workers to adhere to extreme care to prevent the spread of infections by COVID-19 in the country. Around 95 percent of the tourism sector of Mozambique was reported to have been affected by the pandemic.
Only six countries have resumed flights to Mozambique so far, on a reciprocal basis after the relaxation of the COVID-19 related restrictions.
