As bookings for AmaWaterways’ 2022 river cruise season have reached record levels, the leading river cruise line today announced a limited number of staterooms remain to welcome guests during The Netherlands’ Floriade Expo — a world-renowned event that occurs once every ten years. Between April 14 and October 9, 2022, AmaWaterways guests have the opportunity to visit the expo while enjoying a variety of river cruise itineraries sailing along the Rhine and Dutch and Belgian Waterways, including the new-for-2021 Best of Holland & Belgium and Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps itineraries.

“Appreciation for nature and sustainability have been part of AmaWaterways values since we founded the company 18 years ago, and this is a wonderful opportunity to take our passion for the outdoors to the next level, treating our guests to this remarkable event in 2022,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-founder of AmaWaterways. “We are delighted to offer an included excursion to Floriade on nine different river cruise itineraries with many visits planned to The Netherlands between April 14 and October 9, 2022. The event will allow our guests to discover ideas for their gardens at home and learn about the future of sustainability while immersing themselves in authentic Dutch culture. I personally cannot wait to attend the festivities!”

Located just outside Amsterdam, the flourishing city district of Almere will host The Netherlands’ largest public event as part of the International Horticultural Expo, with the theme “Growing Green Cities.” This rare experience encourages visitors to “explore, touch and change” as part of their journey into Floriade – which will feature stunning gardens, innovative sustainable gardening exhibits, live entertainment, talk shows, souvenirs, and food stalls.

AmaWaterways guests will enjoy a complimentary excursion to Floriade on the following itineraries, between April 14 and October 9, 2022:

Alternatively, guests can also experience an up-close-and-personal look at some of the most picturesque gardens of France with ample time to explore and photograph beautiful garden scenes on the Seine and Saône rivers. Impressions of the Seine & Paris includes excursions to Monet’s Gardens in Giverny and the Harcourt Arboretum in Lyons-la-Forêt, one of the largest tree gardens in France, while Essence of Burgundy & Provence, sails through one of the most renowned wine regions taking guests into the topiary garden at Château de Couches and the baroque garden style of Château de Cormatin. Travelers looking to extend their time in Europe have until February 28, 2021, to take advantage of complimentary pre-or post-cruise land packages in St. Malo, France and Barcelona, Spain available on select 2022 departure dates*.

AmaWaterways’ brand was built on the foundation of sustainability and environmental responsibility. In 2020, the company’s entire European fleet earned the prestigious Green Award certification, recognized for industry-leading safety, quality and environmental performance. AmaWaterways’ contemporary vessels — carrying 156 guests on average — are thoughtfully designed with eco-friendly elements, such as LED lights; insulated windows that reduce energy needs for heating and cooling; power locks to plug into a port’s power supply instead of running generators; solar heating systems; water treatment plants that use membrane technology to provide microfiltration and recycling of all water used on board.
