Amazon has recently launched a virtual tourism service titled ‘Amazon Explore’, adding to its ever-growing range of services. It is an interactive live-streaming service that would allow users to learn, shop and discover new places from the comfort of their home. People would be able connect one-on-one with hosts around the world and explore everything from lessons to cultural landmarks with the help of the service.

Users can also ask questions, investigate new locales and make purchases during the sessions, all of which will offer people a complete virtual tourism package. However, the service would not be available on phone or tablet and can only be accessed through a laptop or desktop computer. One would also require headphones or speakers and high-speed Internet of 5 mbps or better to avail the service.

According to reports, local experts or tour guides trained and supported by Amazon will guide the virtual experiences and the one-to-one sessions would range 30 to 60 minutes in length. Amazon said in a press statement that the one-way video and two-way audio stream would allow users to see and hear their host without having to be on camera. The company also mentioned that each experience would be a one-on-one conversation with a host live-streaming on location, in real time and the host will give the insider view on things.
