American Airlines will permit passengers with nut allergies to board early

The American Airlines stated that it will be allowing passengers with nut allergies to board flights early. The new policy is expected to start from December 12.

A statement revealed that customers with nut allergies willing to board flights early to wipe down surfaces can do so at the gate. Although peanuts is not being served in flights there was still no guarantee that their customers will not be exposed to it or other tree nuts during their trips. Those with allergies were encouraged to take necessary medical precautions before flying.

After complaints were filed against the airline last year by the Food Allergy Research and Education, a non profit focused on food allergy awareness and advocacy the decision came in. There was a woman whose has had a life-threatening peanut allergy.

The decision was outlined by the airline in a response filing with the U.S. Transportation Department.
