Zane Kerby, President & CEO of the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), releases the following statement in support of the #StopAsianHate movement and the Asian American Day of Action:
“The recent senseless acts of violence against Asian Americans has brought our attention to a tragic reality: racism and discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders is prevalent, it’s dangerous and it must be stopped. We mourn the loss of our fellow Americans and are alarmed by these trends. Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are not only ASTA members but our neighbors, our coworkers, our family, and our friends.
“Racism in an any form will isn’t tolerated within the ASTA community and we stand with our Asian American and Pacific Islander friends, both here and abroad, to #StopAsianhate now. Our work in the travel industry seeks to build bridges that connect us all and to celebrate the differences in our cultures and heritage.
“Please join us in our stand against racial bias and injustice against Asian communities. The #StopAsianHate Day of Action is scheduled this Friday, March 26, the 230th anniversary of when the Naturalization Act of 1790 went into effect.”
