The government of Andhra Pradesh is set to promote tourism in a major way. From Dec. 18th, they are re-launching the Godavari river cruise service from Pochavaram to all the famous tourist destinations in Papikondalu. This effort is in addition to developing amenities at numerous tourism-potential areas in Andhra Pradesh.

After a boat accident and coronavirus spread, a gap existed of two years, on Thursday, the state Tourism Development Corporation gave green signal for operation of tourist boats on Godavari River with a fleet of 10 private boats.

This will help Hyderabad and Telangana tourists as huge number of tourists from those areas arrive at Bhadrachalam for darshan at Sita Ramachandraswamy temple. They sail along the Godavari to reach upto Papikondalu.

At 9.30 am, private boats start their services by carrying tourists from Pochavaram and head for Perantalapalli. They then visit Papikondalu and return to Pochavaram by 5 pm in the evening. One thousand for an adult is charged and children above two years will be charged Rs 900. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are served by the boat operators.

The state government permitted the operation of tourist boats on Godavari River on conformity with all safety norms in November.
