Andhra Pradesh tourism considering tourism recovery

 Saturday, May 16, 2020

With countries like Vietnam and Cambodia gradually opening their borders to tourists, stakeholders in Andhra Pradesh travel and tourism industry are of the opinion that it is time to restart the market, which has come to a standstill due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Vietnam has launched a communication campaign ‘Vietnam NOW – Safety and Smiling’, which is a tourism stimulus programme with preferential packages for domestic and Asian tourists. Other countries like Bhutan, Laos, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Fuji, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, Macau and Thailand, are also considering resuming tourism activities.

K Vijay Mohan, the President of the Travel and Tourism Association of Andhra (TTAA) said that both domestic and international tourism would be different this time, focusing on safety and hygiene. Emirates Airlines is already carrying out on the spot COVID-19 tests for passengers. Dubai health authorities have also brought in quick blood tests with results available in just 10 minutes. Mr. Mohan also spoke about safety measures to be followed by hotels like mobile check-in and check outs using Bluetooth and RFID technology, cashless payments, front desk protection shields, a la carte menus and distant seating arrangements in restaurants among other procedures.
