Transport and tourism authorities in Andhra Pradesh have come up with special arrangements for Diwali for tourists. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) Visakhapatnam divisional manager DVM Prasad Reddy said that almost 96% of the total 280 rooms in tourism hotels in the division including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam are booked till Diwali, which is on 27th of this month.
Since Diwali is on a Sunday, the authorities are anticipating an increase in footfall. Andhra Pradesh has an array of tourist spots for sightseeing like Araku, Borra Caves, including various waterfalls and temples. The Sun God temple in Srikakulam is quite well-known.
A new tourism package known as Balaji Darshan, was relaunched on October 20, where tourists can have darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy at Tirupati. The package would cost Rs. 4000 for adults for three days and two nights.
Special train and bus services have also started to cope with passenger rush during the festive season.
