Antalya welcomed over 2 million international tourists since Jan 2020

Since the onset of 2020, roughly 2 million international tourists have visited Antalya, one of the significant holiday destinations of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast.

Hotels in Antalya are welcoming their guests following the “safe tourism certification program,” coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, Turkey. This campaign was introduced in the wake of the pandemic to guarantee the vacationers a safe stay while exploring Turkey.

From July 2020, tourism activity in the province has actually increased and gained momentum in August and September.

Between Jan. 1 and Sept. 10th, the number of overseas tourists visiting Antalya reached almost 1.9 million, with Russians at the top list of international holidaymakers, after the Ukrainians and Germans.

“Turkey stood out from other countries with its certificate program and heathy tourism campaign,” said Cem Kınay, from the board of the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency.

The “healthy tourism” was the prime reason behind the recommencing of the traffic between Turkey and Russia, Germany and the U.K, Kınay further added by saying that Polish tourists are gradually expressing their interest in vacationing in Antalya as well.

“Out hotels were ready, and they were working hard to comply with the requirements of the certificate program. The current activity in tourism will continue in the coming months well into November and December,” he said.

Kınay also explained that the Turkish province of Antalya will be preferred more in the winters of 2020 by football and golf teams.

He said that over 10 million foreigners had visited Turkey already and that he hoped in 2020, foreign tourist arrivals to reach 15 million.
