China will make tighter management of tourism during the approaching National Day holiday to stop possible intermittent COVID-19 outbreaks.
The deputy director of the market management department with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Li Xiaoyong, said this on Thursday at a news conference in Beijing that the ministry is all set to strengthen the tourism and cultural events management and the administration of industry operators’ health conditions to make sure of providing a seamless operation of the tourism market in the seven-day break. On Saturday the holiday starts and ends on Oct 7th.
For inbound or outbound travels, the travel agencies and online travel platforms are not permitted to arrange group tours neither they are allowed to book hotels or flight tickets for group tours to overseas destinations, he said. Organizing group tours to places with medium or high infection dangers are current deferred over the holiday, as well as the tours to border cities.
He also stated that travel agencies will have to lay a boundary in terms of group tours to a reasonable size during the holiday. Hotels and homestays should sterilize their places and check the health codes and nucleic acid test results of the travelers which should be a negative report and done within 72 hours, before letting them to check in.
He mentioned that tourist attractions and places providing cultural events should take travelers’ body temperature as well and at the entrance, should check their nucleic acid test results.
