Ascott provides lodging support amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Ascott Limited (Ascott), CapitaLand’s fully-owned lodging business unit has decided to leverage its lodging expertise and resources to provide a safe haven for its guests across the world. Ascott has volunteered to provide a home away from home for healthcare workers, returning nationals, migrant workers as well guests who are affected by border closures or nationwide lockdowns, and others who have been stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

 

It will also extend its support to local government agencies and philanthropic organisations in the battle against the coronavirus disease. Mr. Kevin Goh, Chief Executive Officer, Lodging, CapitaLand Group and Chief Executive Officer, The Ascott Limited, said in a press statement that in the present unprecedented times, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way the world lives tremendously. He mentioned that Ascott should be able to adapt to the evolving changes caused by the pandemic.

 

 

He informed that Ascott has stepped up to support various countries’ national efforts to combat COVID-19 as a responsible lodging company. He shared that the company will be lending its lodging expertise to provide safe residences for guests as well as affected communities who need alternative accommodation.

 

 

He also mentioned that the company is galvanising its staff to support frontline colleagues to overcome the challenging time together. He said that Ascott stands in solidarity with the local communities to ride through the difficult journey wherever they operate across the world. He shared that the company’s doors and hearts remain open, and it looks forward to welcoming guests home.

 

 

Mr. Tan Seng Chai, Chief Corporate & People Officer, CapitaLand Group and Executive Director of CapitaLand Hope Foundation further added that CapitaLand has been evolving its community outreach efforts to provide critical support where it is most needed during the trying times. He informed that CapitaLand’s philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation works with our business units and partners to provide timely intervention in the communities where the group operates.

 

 

He said that through the partnership with ‘Save the Children’, the company will help to ensure food security for 12,000 underprivileged children affected by the pandemic. He said that CapitaLand will continue to play its role not just as a responsible real estate company, but a community leader.

 

 

He also mentioned that the company would do anything in power from delivering medical supplies to hospitals and offering lodging to caregivers including providing financial assistance to vulnerable children and the elderly.
