The COVID19 restrictions will be further relaxed from October 1 in Assam. Kaziranga National Park and other parks like Orang, Pobitora, Manas will be opened for the tourists from the said date. This was stated by Assam Chief Minister Dr.HimantaBiswaSarma in Bokakhat on Wednesday.

Taking note of the COVID19 numbers coming down in the state, the government has decided to give more relaxation to various businesses. “Tourism and related businesses were badly hit by the COVID19. We would like to open this sector so as to provide relief to the people who are running these businesses,” Dr.Sarma told reporters.

Meanwhile in Kaziranga, tourism related businesses have started making preparations to welcome guests. Almost every other house is directly or indirectly connected to tourism activities in Kaziranga. “We welcome chief minister Dr.HimantaBiswaSarma’s decision and thank him as we depend on this business to run our lives. COVID19 made earning difficult and we had to go through a bad phase,” said a businesswoman from Kaziranga.

“For the past two years due to the lockdown the jypsy owners, drivers and others had to face a bad time with regard to finances. There was no money coming. We thank the chief minister for this decision,” said a Gypsy operator.

“We have the bookings, but we were not sure when the park would open. So, this news is good for us and we are looking forward to welcoming the tourists,” said another Gypsy operator.
