Last week, American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) Executive Vice President of Advocacy, Eben Peck, was appointed by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to serve as the national travel organization representative for the National In-Flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force, a subcommittee of the Department’s Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee.
“It’s an honor to be appointed to this task force as the representative of national travel organizations,” said Peck. “This is obviously a sensitive issue, and we intend to consult extensively with ASTA members throughout this process, relying on their expertise and experience to do our part to end the scourge of in-flight sexual misconduct.”
The Task Force is being established pursuant to the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, signed by President Trump on October 5, 2018, and will review and evaluate current practices, protocols, and requirements of U.S. airlines in responding to and reporting allegations of sexual misconduct by passengers on board aircraft.
