The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for the Governorate of Dhofar, Oman, is all prepared to organize tourism activities like Iron Man and Rub’ Al Khali “Empty Quarter”, Tour of Salalah (cycling), at the end of this year and the beginning of the new year.

For the locally called “Sarb” season, the Ministry is revitalizing itself. This season is actually the spring season that succeeds the monsoon which is known as “Khareef”, locally, as reported by Oman News Agency.

In the last week of September, “Sarb” season starts and goes on till the last week of December every year.

The Director General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, Khalid Abdullah Al Abri, told ONA that, acting together with Dhofar Municipality and Oman Cycling Association, the ministry in mid-September will put in order the Tour of Salalah and mountain hiking activity.

This will happen besides the Iron Man from 22 to 24 September 2022. It would be an international event and over 750 sportsmen from around 78 nations will take part in it. The event will comprise a 90-km bike riding, swimming over a distance of 1.9 kilometres, and a 21-km sprinting, Al Abri mentioned.

He has also emphasized that the ministry, as part of the attention it accords to ‘conference tourism’, will arrange an event on photography in partnership with specialized firms in the forthcoming weeks.

The Land of Frankincense Museum in 2023 will have a new appearance, after the execution of a restoration tender, he said.
