The celebrations for the year end which started yesterday would conclude with the New Year celebrations on Dec 31st.
A huge congregation of tourists all over the country as well as locals took part in the event.
At Gulmarg, several hotels and buildings were lit up to give the place a festive and gorgeous appearance.
At the GolfClub, a colourful musical programme was arranged which saw the participation of several tourists and local visitors.
Previously, members of the Christian community arranged special prayer at the local Church.
They also prayed for communal harmony, love and compassion for humanity. Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Tourism, inaugurated the festival yesterday. He said that it’s been a custom of the Tourism Department to host Christmas Eve celebrations all over Jammu and Kashmir. He mentioned that this festive week, the Department has planned to request people worldwide to come and visit Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo, senior officers of the Department, and representatives of local hoteliers were present.
Likewise, at Pahalgam, the Pahalgam Club, local hotels, buildings and the market were all lit up illuminated for festival.
In the evening by the Department, many cultural programmes were organised which saw the participation of tourists and local visitors.
Yesterday, the Department, as part of the festival, had arranged a cake baking competition. From young enthusiasts, it saw an encouraging participation from across the Kashmir valley.
The participants of the final round were awarded a cash prize of 20000 each and momentos.
