Bad weather prompts cruise ship cancellation

 Thursday, January 11, 2018

Queen-Elizabeth-Cruise-Ship-4Cunard cruise liners Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria have cancelled their cruise calls in the region of Bermuda on account of bad weather.

The two cruise ships were scheduled to arrive in Dockyard on Sunday and signal the commencement of the 2018 cruise ship season of the island.

But then, the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre has reported today that both the cruise vessels had cancelled their Bermuda calls owing to bad weather conditions that they had encountered while crossing the area.

Heavy weather in the Atlantic had compelled Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth to head straight to their next ports of Port Everglades and New York respectively.

It would have been the inaugural visit for the Bermuda-registered cruise vessel Queen Elizabeth. This luxury cruise liner carries 1,900 passengers and 980 crew members is the newest Cunard’s cruise ship.

This cruise ship had left Southampton in England on its 122-night world tour at the weekend and is expected to visit to 39 ports in 25 nations.
