The feeling of security during a travel experience is paramount. If a tourist lacks the feeling of security during a travel experience, he/she won’t be able to fully enjoy the travel experience. Since the Island of Bali is dependent on tourism for its economy, safety for the tourists is of utmost importance to the Bali community leaders and law enforcement. Bali Police have recently highlighted their devotion to protecting visitors during the Kuta Beach Resort crime protection Zone.
Kuta is one of Bali’s most recognized tourism hubs, famous for its lively beaches, nightlife, dining scene, and family-friendly attractions. Its mass appeal draws hundreds of thousands of both domestic and international travelers each year. However, with high visitor numbers inevitably comes a greater risk of petty crime, nightlife-related incidents, and occasional disturbances.

Local authorities have long acknowledged that waves of opportunistic crime—such as bag snatching, pickpocketing, and nighttime altercations—can occur in the busiest corners of Kuta. Alcohol-fueled confrontations in entertainment districts are not uncommon during late hours.
Despite these challenges, Kuta remains a safe and welcoming destination overall. Bali Police are acting swiftly and strategically to respond to security concerns, ensuring the area continues to feel comfortable and safe for tourists, residents, and workers.
Kuta Police Chief Commissioner Agus Riwayanto Diputra announced renewed, island-wide efforts to strengthen safety measures in advance of the Christmas and New Year holiday period—one of the busiest travel seasons for Bali.
Commissioner Diputra invited a broad coalition of stakeholders to join forces, including:

He emphasized that cooperation and continuous supervision are essential to maintaining security across Kuta and nearby areas.
In a formal circular, the Commissioner highlighted that security measures will focus especially on nightlife zones, where incidents typically occur. He stated that Kuta Police are ready to coordinate with local government officials if additional restrictions or crowd-control measures are needed during particularly busy periods.
He reaffirmed, “The Kuta Police are committed to maintaining a safe, orderly, and conducive tourism environment by prioritizing preventative, human, and collaborative measures. We encourage the entire community, businesses, and other stakeholders to continue supporting efforts to maintain regional security for the well-being of all.”
With heightened patrols expected to continue through the holiday season, tourists visiting Kuta over the coming weeks may notice an increased presence of uniformed police officers, Pecalang members, and community security personnel throughout the resort area.
This visibility is intended to deter crime, respond faster to disturbances, and provide reassurance to travelers.
Authorities urge tourists to:
Pecalang officers, who operate 24/7 in traditional village areas, often reach incidents sooner than police. They work closely with law enforcement and are trained to help tourists in urgent situations.
Recognizing that tourism safety extends far beyond police presence, Bali Regional Police have expanded collaboration efforts to include transportation providers—especially online ride-hailing companies like GoJek.
This week, Bali Police and GoJek launched a joint safety and legal awareness training program for drivers. The training emphasized:
Gde Armyn Gita, Head of Corporate Affairs for Gojek Bali and Nusa Tenggara, highlighted the role of drivers as the first point of contact for many visitors. He stated, “Understanding the law and maintaining order on the road are key to maintaining Bali’s image as a safe and world-class destination.”
Senior Commissioner Dr. I Gede Adhi Mulyawarman of Bali Regional Police praised the initiative, calling it an important step toward strengthening legal awareness among public transport providers—one of the most vital components of Bali’s tourism mobility network.
Authorities and GoJek encourage tourists to activate in-app safety features before booking rides. These include:
These built-in features help ensure safer transportation and offer added reassurance for solo travelers and first-time visitors navigating Bali’s busy streets.
Bali’s dedication to maintaining its status as a safe place to travel is reflected in its Extended safety patrols, integrated safety initiatives with the community, as well as having partnered with most travel providers. Bali has been a world leader in safe travel destinations. Bali has a proactive travel safety plan, but, as always, the safety of travelers is a shared responsibility with the community, travelers, and law enforcement working together.
As Bali approaches its peak travel season, the Special Event Safety Plan will provide all travelers with the utmost preventative, responsive, and supportive safety services throughout their visit.
Bali has declared its unswerving dedication to all travelers, creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment to travel freely and enjoy Bali’s beautiful natural scenery, diverse culture, and extraordinary welcoming services.
