Tourists travelling through Vietnam, exploring countries like India, skiing in Japan and relaxing in Thailand are some of the most favored destinations for Australians especially in the peak travel month of January.
Vietnam travel by Australians was up by nearly 28% while Japan vacations rose by 16%, Indian tourist rose by 14% and Thailand that had been losing market share increased by nearly 9.6%.
Tourism to popular January holiday destination Bali had declined on account of the concern over volatile Mount Agung that is an active volcano causing serious flight disruptions and the Australian visitors to Indonesia had dropped by -11%.
Year on year visits to New Zealand had dropped below -1% and the United States to -2% while the overall outbound tourism figures in January had increased by a modest 2%.
