Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, is aiming to reopen for international tourists from next month. It looks quite promising that higher local vaccination rate might help attract more foreign visitors and boost the economy affected badly by the COVID pandemic.
Beach resorts of Pattaya, HuaHIn and Cha-Am are also preparing to reopen for tourists. The Tourism Ministry officials said that the reopening will be modeled after the Sandbox initiative to bring back vaccinated tourists to Phuket. More destinations such as Koh Chang, Chiang Rai and KohKood will possibly fully reopen for visitors from mid-October, with travel bubbles that have been planned.
This latest move is anticipated to balance Thailand’s Sandbox initiative, which was launched in July as the first step toward reopening the country’s tourism industry. As per the tourism officials, the initiative proved to be a great success!
As per reports, more than 27000 international travelers have visited Thailand under the Sandbox initiative, which lets vaccinated tourists enter Phuket and other cities, as long as they stay in hotels approved by the tourism authority. All approved hotels have been checked thoroughly, guaranteeingvaccination of at least 70 per cent of their workforce.
