If one is visiting Thailand for a vacation, it is advisable to get visas from the embassy or consulate for escaping long queues. Thailand is witnessing an influx of tourists after eliminating all Covid-19 restrictions, and reopening its borders for tourists. Bangkok Airport is witnessing long lines of travelers, who are waiting for hours to get visas on arrival.

Pattarat Hongtong, Thailand’s Ambassador to India advised Indian tourists to get visas from the embassy or consulate for dodging long lines at the Bangkok airport for immigration consent. Thai authorities are receiving many complaints from unfortunate tourists on social media.

Hongtong said that the situation is quite normal for any airport, not only Thailand. With the reopening of borders, no one can imagine the actual number of incoming visitors or tourists. Hence, for Indians, it is advisable to obtain visa from embassy or consulate before traveling to Thailand.

She said that the airport is adopting measures like increasing staff, to offer the best services to tourists from abroad.

This year, Thailand witnessed more than 3.78 million tourists between January and August. Majority of these tourists were from India, Malaysia and Singapore. The Thai economy is a lot dependent on tourists.
The Ambassador credited the long queues mainly to tourists looking for visas on arrival.
