Bankside is set to debut in September 2018 on the south bank of River Thames, stone’s throw away from the city and some of the reputed landmarks like the Tate Modern, the National Theatre and Borough Market.
The property boasts of 161 airy rooms and suites, there are ‘white cube’ spaces for meetings and events, co-working area with a stylish restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace. Bankside is housed in a six-story glass building that is a part of the One Blackfriars development designed by the award-winning architect Ian Simpson.
The mid-century modern aesthetic has an eclectic mix of bespoke furniture and local craftsmanship and heritage. The light-filled spaces are well designed to provide a residential feel.
Dayn Lee of Powerstrip Studios said that he wanted to create a genuine boutique hotel for the modern people. There are calm rooms with creative public spaces that reflects the vibrant history.
The local artistic community had been thoroughly celebrated, there are post-kiln potter drying racks for shelves, kids-leather-covered furnishings bringing an ‘art school’ experience. There are a lot of luxurious and other custom-made features.
Bankside has taken full care of sustainability by having in-rooms power-saving elements and rooftop beehives. There has been immense use of non-or low VOC paints throughout and sustainably –sourced wood with an arrangement for zero waste landfill.
