Barbados sees 2.7 per cent increase in tourism arrivals, more American travellers visiting

According to new data from Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. the tourism arrivals in the country went up by 2.7 per cent last year showing a solid performance and a year of positive growth.

 

 

All-important United States market contributed to the surge in tourism and the United States was the strongest improvement for Barbados showing an 8.4 percent increase in visitors.

 

 

There were a  total of 204,830 arrivals from the region eclipsing growth from Canadian and United Kingdom markets.

 

 

 

A total of 681,197 visitors in 2018 were reported in the Grantley Adams International Airport representing an increase of 17,686 visitors.

 

 

 

William “Billy” Griffith, CEO of BTMI was delighted to hear this and about the Barbados’ tourism product.

 

 

He said that it is not that easy as a mature tourism destination to maintain growth at these in the competitive business scenarios. But he was pleased with the help of strategic marketing efforts the region’s value is shown through the record number of arrivals  at the air and sea ports in 2018.

 

 

He commended the tourism team due to which they could achieve the record 2.7 per cent growth. It is likely the numbers will further increase in 2019.
