Barcelona in Spain has recently introduced steps to handle large tour groups effectively, as this Spanish city is a preferred tourism hotspot for many.
As per recent rules introduced, person capacities, restrictions in noise and a one-way system for tours in various centres all over Barcelona has been implemented, in an effort to lessen the pressure created on the locals residing in Barcelona.
The new rules introduced comprise decreasing the disturbances created by large tour groups in the city. From now on, these groups will have to use headsets and earpieces as an alternative to megaphones and they will have to speak at a normal volume in any public place. Besides, tours have to regulate to a one-way system, i.e. only 24 streets and squares can be visited at a time.
The tour guides in these tours will have to select stops which are more spacious to stop creating problem for other pedestrians.
At the time of visiting the very narrow streets of the Ciutat Vella, around 15 people will be allowed in one tour group instead of 30, is the oldest neighbourhood of Barcelona. Furthermore, some historical sites are now restricted to allow groups of three to eight visitors at the maximum.
Also, by the tour companies now, visitors are encouraged to book their tours before instead of buying tickets instantly in the city streets, which previously caused disorder for the locals.
