Bayelsa Tourism Stakeholders launched Five-man Interim Executive to boost up domestic tourism sector.
Bayelsa is located in southern State in Nigeria in the core Niger Delta region, between Delta State and Rivers State. Yenagoa is the capital city.
Realizing that successful tourism development is dependant hugely on outstanding cooperation and communication among all industry stakeholder, a group of experts and stakeholders under the auspices of Bayelsa Tourism Stakeholders’ Association with members from the private sector, government agencies, tourism associations, quasi-government bodies and the media have declared of developing a five-man interim executive to set up a new course to endorse domestic tourism in the state.
At the end of its inaugural meeting, while talking with the travel writers at Ididie Hotel, in Ekeki, Yenagoa on Friday, convener of the meeting and Chief Executive Officer of Mohogany 21st Century Concept, Mr. Eyinimi Omorozi highlighted the fact that the significance of the role of the stakeholders in achieving successful tourism development and promotion, emphasizing that tourism is a complex social system, requires strong synergy among stakeholders to drive it sustainably, therefore the convocation of the stakeholders meeting to articulate the forward for the industry.
Mr. Omorozi, also added that the purpose of the association were geared towards offering a formidable platform for the stakeholders for self development, interchange of knowledge, experience and formal professional training, give confidence and help tourism professionals associated in different fields to preserve the integrity and competence of the profession, liaise, interact and work jointly with the government at the state and local levels, including relevant agencies in order to guarantee timely and effective development of travel and tourism resources in Bayelsa state.
As per the convener, the new tourism association is geared towards advancing the art of travel and tourism activities in the state via research, education, information technology, and development, besides maintaining contacts with similar bodies’ world over in promoting bilateral exchanges between Bayelsa Tourism Stakeholders’ Association and other such bodies and organizations outside.
