The tourism sector in Belgium is improving, although some transformed patterns in traveling and tourism can be noticed among Belgians.

The pandemic has made many Belgians to travel and enjoy their holidays inside their home country, which has turned into a common exercise for many Europeans.

Peter De Wilde, the CEO of Tourism Flanders said that he has seen that how many problems the tourist entrepreneurs experienced, facing difficulties during the pandemic; however, in spite of all odds, they never gave up, and are now witnessing a lot of visitors from home and overseas to appreciate all the resources that make Flanders such an exclusive tourist destination.

During the pandemic, the number of last-minute booked tours augmented considerably, with these bookings happening around two weeks prior to departure. The bookings are once again reaching the levels of 2019.

A recent report says that traveling by car turned popular during the COVID-19 emergency; however, it is no longer common as of the summer of 2021 when traveling by air has re-claimed its popularity.
