Berlin acquires Tourism Citizens’ Advisory Council

How we preserve the diverse neighborhood culture of Berlin? How we can additionally grow Berlin tourism? In the coming days, these pertinent questions will be addressed by the new Berlin Tourism Citizens’ Advisory Council. Berliners in close assistance with the state of Berlin can actively shape the future of tourism in the capital city of the country.


For the new independent council, 24 volunteer members from all Berlin districts are being sought in total. For up to three years, the membership will remain open. Anyone above age of 18 and living in Berlin can apply. From each of the 12 districts, two representatives are sought who will be chosen from the applications received by the respective district administration. For all applications, the last date is September 15th, 2022.


Through an active exchange between tourism stakeholders and Berliners, the new Citizens’ Advisory Council will assist in developing impulses and innovative ideas for sustainable and city-compatible tourism. The committee is based on an initiative of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises together with visitBerlin and the Berlin districts.


After the end of the application process, the first meeting of the Citizens’ Advisory Council is scheduled to take place, somewhere between October 10 and 16th. Besides four meetings every year, the agenda of the new council includes so-called citizens’ forums in all districts as well. Later on, interested Berliners will succeed in obtaining information on various topics and express their opinions.
