With over 1,300 miles of coastline, Florida is known for its rolling beaches, turquoise Gulf waters and white sand dunes. On better days, just finding a place near the shore is a chore. Tourists from different nooks of the state hit the popular beaches in Florida to get away from the daily grinds. It is one of the most sought-after destinations to appreciate stunning panorama and indulge in hiking, crabbing and other popular activities.

Weekend holidays and Spring Break usually draw flocks of tourists at the Florida beaches as there are plenty to pick from. While most of the beaches are pretty crowded with travel buffs, there are still some other bonus beaches where you have a chance to soak up the idyllic ambiance and bask in the sun.

Here is a list of 10 Florida beaches to visit on weekends if you really hate crowds and want to spend some quiet time:

Amelia Island– Far from the overcrowding of tourist spots, Amelia Island is a slice of heaven with over 13 miles of beaches.
From stunning panorama, diverse wildlife and plenty of opportunities to dine on and spend your days fishing or boating, you will find everything here.

Santa Rosa Beach– Part of Florida’s stunning Emerald Coast, Santa Rosa Beach offers miles of clear blue waters set against a backdrop of blue skies.
Its location between Pensacola and Panama City means you’re never far from the action, while you can still enjoy the tranquil waters and quartz crystal sand without the crowds.

Sunset Beach– Sunset Beach is located on the south end of Treasure Island, a beach community at St. Petersburg. It is used mainly by the local residents.
The white sand beach is stunningly beautiful and the Gulf of Mexico waters are normally less wavy than beaches on the Atlantic side of the state.

Melbourne Beach– Sebastian Inlet State Park at Melbourne Beach is located north of Vero Beach and is divided by a channel from the Atlantic Ocean and a bridge. Of the north and south beaches, the south is the least crowded.

Anna Maria Island– Anna Maria Island sits off the coast from Bradenton. There are three communities on the island and the least crowded beaches are found at the north end.
The beaches on the Gulf of Mexico are wide and white, and are never crowded, even on a holiday weekend.

Bahia Honda State Park– Located on the Florida Keys (Big Pine Key specifically), south of Marathon and the Seven Mile Bridge, beach goers at Bahia Honda State Park are mostly campers from the park campgrounds.
This is a great beach for small children because offshore reefs calm the waves, and the water is shallow for a good distance out from the shore.

Gulf Island’s National Seashore– Beautiful beaches don’t come any better than the white sands of this national seashore in Gulf Breeze on Florida’s panhandle. Stretching from Pensacola to Navarre, the Gulf Islands National Seashore is more than 26 miles long.

Canaveral National Seashore– The Canaveral National Seashore is a 40-mile stretch of undeveloped Atlantic Coast beach that runs from the Kennedy Space Center north to New Smyrna Beach. Holiday weekends draw a crowd, and sometimes the parking lots fill up.
During the week, chances are you will have the beach almost all to yourself. Hiking into that area gets you totally alone, with just you, the seabirds, and the occasional coyote.

Pine Island– An excellent option for a quiet Florida getaway, Pine Island offers picturesque landscapes without the packs of tourists. Only 30 minutes from Fort Myers, this area is seclusion at its finest.
The largest island off Florida’s Gulf Coast, you can spend an afternoon kayaking along the waterways or fishing for your next meal.

Flagler Beach- Located on the Atlantic Coast, north of Daytona Beach, Flagler Beach isn’t all that remote, but few people use the beach here, mainly local residents. You park along the highway and there are plenty of dune crosswalks.
The sand isn’t the prettiest, but there’s lots of it. There are restaurants and convenience stores along the road, but no public facilities or restrooms.
