‘The best destinations are the destinations nobody knows’

During the sidelines of FITUR 2019, Gebert Janssen, imagineer, Event Architect Group spoke exclusively to Travel And Tour World about incentive travel for employee, MICE planning and more.

He holds more than 20 years’ experience in the MICE industry, he is a lecturer at a university of applied science. He wrote a book called the Real MICE Book covering the fundamentals and different facets of the MICE industry and inspire everyone!

Travel And Tour World: Tell me first about your company?

Gebert Janssen: It was found 23 years ago and we do business events specially MICE events focused on incentive trips.

Travel And Tour World: What is your main business in FITUR?

Gebert Janssen: Getting inspired by destinations and specially our work is outside Europe in the east, South America and Spanish talking part of the world .

Travel And Tour World: What is you feeling about the Spanish market?

Gebert Janssen:  It is a great part of the world and should be explored by our clients and the people.


Travel And Tour World Tell us about the MICE group you handle, the events you organise and numbers you handle?

Gebert Janssen: We basically cater to the incentive group and go with them to other countries for bleisure or leisure always with the company and colleagues. We handle big groups starting from 200,500 to 2000 plus.

Travel And Tour World: Talk about a few Mice groups you are handling in 2019?

Gebert Janssen: We went to South Africa with a group of 800 people, we made tented camp without fences only and lions were there .Only rangers were around to keep a check.

Travel And Tour World: What should a MICE planner should keep in mind?

Gebert Janssen:  Planners should arrange for venues no one can think about, identify the target group and provide an unforgettable experience. There should be stories to tell about giving the guest something special. Ideally an incentive programe should start before the trip and end late after the trip.

Travel And Tour World: How you make the guests feel special during incentive groups?

Gebert Janssen:  Companies build up a target, when you get it they are rewarded, when one is able to make it around 60% one gets incentive in Europe if it is more than 60% then one goes out of Europe- a motivational group to the employees.


Travel And Tour World: Do you think incent package help to boost employee in the long term business goals ?

Gebert Janssen:  It is a part of total program for the company to built loyalty of the employees and it is important if they are loyal they will work harder and work longer in your company.

Travel And Tour World:Tell us about  the best three MICE destination in Europe.

Gebert Janssen:  The best destinations are the destinations we don’t know , find destination that special for everybody .  Find a destination that is special for everybody, Paris is special for everybody but if you have to find something unsual.
