Best places to visit in UK during Easter holidays

Easter or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead that is described in the New Testament. It occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans. In the United Kingdom this is an excellent time (April) to take a break and go around the country for a visit. You can visit some of the popular holiday destinations like York Conwy Castle, Wales, Wells next the sea, Harrogate, N Yorkshire, Plockton, Scotland, Windermere, Brighton, Cardiff, Castleton, Peak district. These are some of the best places to visit in the month of April inside UK during the Easter holidays.

  1. Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow with its many world-class museums, parks, historic buildings and shopping centres catering to the needs of every age group. It the cultural capital of Scotland. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is must-visit tourist attractions in Glasgow is a must-visit tourist attraction. Its extensive collection from priceless Renaissance art to a great collection of armours are a treat to watch. The historic Glasgow Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Mungo.This medieval cathedral is the oldest building in the city.

2. Glencoe, Scotland

The sweeping valley of Glencoe offers some of Scotland’s most dazzling scenery where Loch Leven meets the Three Sisters mountain range. The clean fresh air around Scotland’s lochs and mountains are a treat to the visitors during this time. Self-catering cottages in Scotland lets one enjoy all of the amazing scenery the Highlands has to offer and an authentic Scottish experience.

3. Bodmin, Cornwall

In Bodmin town, the imposing Bodmin Jail which was built in the 1700s and has a dark history and maybe some ghosts too. Lanhydrock Estate,a National Trust site is perfect for long lingering walks in the countryside. It is located just on the outskirts of town.Bodmin Moor, with stunning views, ancient stone circles and legendary landscapes is interesting to explore. The Dozmary Pool is a location said to be the home of the Lady of the Lake in King Arthur’s legend.

4. Wallington Estate, Northumberland

In the spring, one can spot frogs and their spawn in the stunning lakes at Wallington. We wander through ancient woodlands and discover secret gardens. Here one can get a real sense of nature. It’s a haven for playing hide and seek and we can spot the first butterfly in spring.

5. Yorkshire Dales National Park

A patchwork of lush green and vibrant yellow fields, one is tempted to capture every moment in camera. Hawes is a scenic escape in the heart of the Dales. It is complete with waterfall and charming cottages lining the streets. The 6-mile Upper Wharfedale wild walk is definitely a must for a spring day. The walk around Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, takes us past tumbling waterfalls and through ancient oak woodland on a real springtime adventure.

6. The Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is located on the Southern Coast of the country. Here is the once the royal home of Queen Victoria, Osborne House is the top top of the list. While it can be explored all year round; however, the gardens are exceptionally beautiful during Easter. Carisbrooke Castle, which once an artillery fortress but now is a historical spot with shows, dungeon tours and even a friendly donkey as their main resident.  One can also go kite surfing and swim along Compton Beach.

These six places pretty much cover these favourite destinations in the UK to visit during the Easter holidays with friends and family.
