Staycations

Following a summer of staycations in the U.K., Brits are finally expecting the return of traditional holidays as the government has decided to announce new rules for the traffic light system. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is likely to replace PCR test with anti flow test for vaccinated travellers.

Meanwhile, the traffic light system will possibly be simplified to encourage more tourism opportunities in the days to come. As Brits are excited to plan their upcoming holiday, here is a list of some of the best staycations in the U.K. that are ideal for short post-pandemic travel:

The Berkeley, London

The Berkeley has been long established as a popular staycation for travellers who need a short break from their daily life. Located a short walking distance away from Harrods, the hotel has become one of the prominent staycations with its afternoon tea delights, Grand Pavilion Penthouse and Bamford Wellness spa. The five-star venue has been offering sublime service, style and cuisine in Knightsbridge for all travellers for more than 100 years. Guests can enjoy luxurious stay, experience fine dining service or relish the rejuvenating afternoon tea at the hotel.

The Pandy House, Wales

Standing with a fairytale-like appearance, the Pandy House is known for its picturesque beauty. Situated near the hills and valleys of Snowdonia, the house is ideal for a large group of travellers to gather and relish its wonders for a day-trip. From the William Morris wallpaper, glass wall overlooking the Tay y Fan peak or animal-printed bedrooms walls, the Pandy House provides one of the most memorable staycations experience. Visitors can also take a look at the beautiful outside summerhouse and enjoy a refreshing bath at the hot tub and a river to complete their activities for the day.

The Zen Garden, Kent

The staycation at the Zen Garden in Kent is an example of the perfect blend between modernity and traditionalism. The venue is a barn-like 15th century accommodation space with its timber beams, high ceilings and contrasting grey and white-hued walls. It offers staycationers some of the finest bedrooms and open-plan spaces to spend their short trip in leisure. However, the place is mostly recognized for its outdoor kitchen and swimming pool. It also has an aquarium, Koi pond and Bonsai trees for guests to enjoy through their relaxing stay. Visitors are welcomed with a staycation hamper that consists of local produce, a sports package in the cinema room and freshly cut flowers, among others.

The Blackberry Wood Farm is a small, family-run campsite that offers quirky and quality accommodation for people who wants to enjoy a stay at a staycation. Visitors can located the venue after walking through the iconic Sussex countryside at the foot of the South Downs National Park, just seven miles from nearby Brighton. Guests let their hair down for a day and relax in the magical treehouses or enjoy other iconic attractions like a 1964 Routemaster London double-decker Bus, a refurbished fire engine, a converted 1965 Wessex Search and Rescue helicopter, or the original 1930 Gypsy Wagon.

Orchard Treehouse, Worcestershire

This is the ideal staycation for travellers to wants to experience a short break in the lap of nature. The Orchard Treehouse is wrapped around a magnificent Cypriot pine tree on the grounds of a medieval Manor house. Meanwhile, it boasts a private hot tub on the deck where guests can stretch their legs and navigate the sprawling footpaths over Bredon Hill. They can also cycle over to the picturesque village of Little Comberton.

Monkey Beach Cottage, Mersea Island

Located just an hour away from London, an overnight stay on Monkey Beach Cottage would leave staycationers as satisfied as a long holiday away from the U.K. The sandy beaches of Mersea Island are quaint and dotted with candy-coloured beach huts, its seafood is highly delicious and the pubs cosy and inviting.
