About 20 million came under the whirlpool of high wind advisory in areas including Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. Snowfall of 6 to 10 inches is possible across the Midwest. Some areas could receive as much as a foot of snow within the next 24 to 36 hours. The streets are dark, and there are whiteouts and slick roads forming treacherous travel conditions.

Sustained winds of between 30 and 45 mph are anticipated, and might accelerate to 65 mph.

Nearly 1,000 US flights had been canceled by late Sunday afternoon, and 3,100 flights have been delayed, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware. Most of them were at Chicago’s O’Hare International and Midway airports.

And an approximately 60-mile stretch of Interstate 70 in Kansas has been closed, according to a tweet from the state’s Department of Transportation.

Kansas City International Airport was closed to flights arriving on the airfield due to low visibility caused by weather conditions.

The Storm will bring snow, wind and rain to large stretches of the Midwest.

The Kansas Division of Emergency Management authorizes the use of state resources and personnel to assist with response and recovery operations in affected counties.

It is recommended travel plans are postponed.  Those who have to travel should carry emergency kit and phone charger. Travellers should inform someone about their travel plans and have their gas tank is full.
