On September 27th every year, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) organizes World Tourism Day. This year the organization has selected India to be host country. The celebration every year has a theme. In 2019, the theme is ‘Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all’
As tourism and hospitality sector creates an integral part of India’s soft power narrative, the Center for Soft Power will be leading the ‘Road to World Tourism Day’ celebrations. Towards this, a panel discussion was held in Jaipur recently.
The bigwigs of the travel fraternity participated in the discussion and were chaired by Dr Lalit K Panwar (former secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Minority Affairs in Government of India). With his knowledge and factual presentation, he threw light about the current scenario and the prospects in tourism industry to the attendees. In addition, the panel consisted Daulat Singh (patron, federation of Travel Guide Association), Ajeet Bansal (patron, Hotel Association of Jaipur), Deepika Singh (HOD, Tourism Management, IIS University) and Divya Khandal (social entrepreneur).
This was attended and graced by people from diverse fields in tourism like owners of hotels, head of the hotel management and tourism institutes, event organizers, transporters, cab union representatives, certified guides, HR experts, travel consultants, travel photographers and others.
