Bombardier Showcases Advanced Mining Rail Systems at CIM 2018 Convention & EXPO In Vancouver

Bombardier Transportation is attending Canada’s premier mining trade show, CIM Convention and Expo, to be held May 6-9 in Vancouver. Bombardier is teaming up with German locomotive manufacturer Schalke Eisenhütte Maschinenfabrik (Schalke) and Nordic Minesteel Technologies (NMT) to jointly present their unique, automated mining solution for rail control, locomotives and freight vehicles.

The event will see Bombardier Transportation, Schalke and NMT present their turnkey solution that maximizes the rapid transport of raw materials while increasing the efficiency and productivity of mining operations. The three companies have collaborated to offer a complete rail transport solution that supports all levels of automation and ensures the efficient movement of freight – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  For this solution, Bombardier Transportationhas provided its fully-automated BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 150 mining and industrial rail control solution,Schalke has delivered the locomotives and NMT has supplied the mining cars as well as the loading and unloading stations.

These advanced rail transportation systems can be found at mines around the world, including at the LKAB Kiruna mine in Sweden, the most modern iron ore mine in the world, at copper mines in Chile and Indonesian gold mines.
