The World Travel & Tourism Council has welcomed Botswana Tourism Organisation as its newest member as it becomes the first destination partner from Africa.
Botswana Tourism Organisation will be the first from Africa to be the destination partners with the World Travel & Tourism Council.
It will be joining tourism authorities across North America , the Middle East and Europe and after it launching the membership category in April at the Global Summit in Buenos Aires it will be the organisation’s sixth partner.
Gloria Guevara, president, WTTC was delighted to welcome Botswana Tourism Organisation as WTTC’s first African destination partner.
She said that tourism has a vital role to play in Botswana’s economy and contributes 11.5 per cent of the nation’s economy last year and sustained 76,000 jobs.
WTTC’s representation in the global tourism sector will broaden with the inclusion of Botswana Tourism Organization as a destination partner. This will allow more effective advocacy for tourism actors and key issues worldwide.
The global tourism private sector is presented by the WTTC along with newest membership category, destination partner which maximize the voice of major tourism organizations and destination management organisation in the world.
Zibanani Hubona, acting chief executive, BTO was delighted to have joined this world leading tourism body.
He added that the membership will be an add on to the existing global call for sustainable tourism development. It will benefit the global community for top tourism development agenda.
