According to the federal state-owned organisation Embratur, the recovery of post-pandemic tourism in Brazil last year might have been quicker than the international average.

According to VisaGuide.World, the figure is equivalent to a total of 100,000 more travellers compared to the same month in 2019 and 2020 prior to the spread of the Coronavirus.

Embratur stated that 756,883 international tourists visited Brazil in 2019, while 750,457 came in 2020, adding that the growth was 109 percent when compared to December, when 414,752 travellers from other nations visited Brazil.

The Middle East (83%) and Europe (80%) had the highest performance in terms of international tourist arrivals after the pandemic, while Brazil trailed behind African states (63%) and American states (66 per cent).

According to the agency, approximately 1.28 million international travellers will visit Brazil this year, with the bulk of them coming from Argentina and the United States. At present, the country’s administration is reopening to other nations, anticipating a big number of visitors to come to Brazil in order to foster discussion and international collaboration.

According to the same source, the top destinations seeing a rise in passengers are Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Salvador, Lorianópolis, Porto Alegre, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, as well as Brasília.

According to information released by the Ministry of Tourism, travellers from foreign nations spent US$604 million in Brazil in January.

The results for January of this year reflect a 3.8% rise over January of 2020, and a total gain of 43.5% over January of 2022.

According to the Travel Agent Central report, Brazil saw a 60% rise in international travellers in the first four months of last year.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) figures, a total of 37,076,053 COVID-19 infection cases have been documented in Brazil since the start of the pandemic, with a total of 699,276 persons dying as a result of the virus. A total of 502,262, 440 vaccination doses have been delivered in the country to far.

Notwithstanding the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 scenario, officials in Brazil managed to welcome a big number of tourists last year, assisting the travel and tourism industry in recovering faster.
