Brazil has taken a giant electra-stomp in world tourism, billed as one of the top-performing destinations for international tourism growth by 2025, new figures out today show. By recent UNWTO´s report, Brazil recorded an increase of 48% in its tourist flows, which placed the country as the second worldwide in relation to growth in tourism. This performance demonstrates Brazil´s continuing attractiveness across borders for international visitors, supported by recent extensive investment in tourism promotion.
The UNWTO report focuses on the Americas in particular, and it is Paraguay and Chile, which, like Uruguay, are also in the black when it comes to growth. The figures show that Brazil’s first-quarter 2025 increase is well above the global average, which showed an increase of 5% in international tourism during the three months. Success like this is due not only to the wealth of the destination’s compelling offerings, but also the strong work carried out by Brazil’s constant international promotion, as it works towards becoming a major global tourism player.

Brazil’s Impact on Global Tourism
How Brazil’s tourism performed in Q1 2025, in addition to the rise in international tourist arrivals, is indicative that the whole industry is working efficiently. A total exceeded 300 million tourists from all over the world visiting international destinations in the first 3 months of 2025, an increase of 14 million compared to the same months of 2024. With 48% growth, Brazil is outpacing the world, meanwhile, and making a sizeable contribution to the recovery of international travel.

The President of Embratur (Brazilian Government Tourism Authority), Marcelo Freixo, said that it all made Brazil proud to be included amongst the world’s top performers in this area.”The inclusion of Brazil on this list clearly illustrates the strength of our nation as a global tourist destination. This impressive 48% growth over the world average speaks highly of Brazil’s increasing importance in world tourism, he added. This is the result of a long-term work of disseminating Brazil’s cultural, natural, and historical wealth abroad, says Freixo.
It’s not just Brazil’s shores and culture that have helped grow the Brazilian tourism industry, but the innovative marketing and partnerships developed between Embratur and the Ministry of Tourism. Freixo added, ”We develop at considerably more than the world average, and this is thanks to our continuous international promotion. We are trending, smashing records, and contributing to social development through tourism.”

Performance of Tourism with the key source market parties
Brazil’s remarkable increase in its tourism sector in 2025 is justified as well by the volume of international arrivals. Record number of foreigners have visited Brazil, report Embratur, Tourism Ministry, and Federal Police. Brazil receives over 5 million foreign visitors up to June. The country registered 48.2% growth in the first half of 2025 against the same period last year. Brazil received 5,332,111 international tourists, with 48.2% growth over the same period in 2024. These soaring numbers of visitors not only mirror Brazil’s greater importance as a travel destination, but also rising global interest in South America.
Argentina continues to be Brazil’s top source market, as it sent 2,323,891 visitors over the first half of 2025. This is in alignment with history, which reveals Argentina as a relevant name in Brazilian tourism. Chile and the US, with 442,993 and 410,189 visitors, respectively, are other main source markets.
Geographic proximity and cultural similarities underlie the heavy influx of visitors from Argentina. The high number of tourists from Argentina is quite natural, due to the proximity of the two countries, with beautiful Brazilian beaches, vibrant cities like Rio de Janeiro, and cultural experiences, just a short trip away. Brazil’s tourism also counts a good number of visitors from the U.S. and Chile, indicating that it remains a popular destination among travelers from a wide range of countries.
Outlook for the Brazilian Tourism Industry in the Future
In the future, Brazil has a favorable tourism outlook and, Embratur points out, the Ministry of Tourism will continue to work to keep up the good work when hosting the international competition. The tactical initiatives to invest in tourism infrastructure, increase service levels, and improve visitor experience carried out by the country may help to drive this growth further in the years ahead.
Tourism is not only good for Brazil’s economy, it is also creating jobs for locals in one of the most underserved areas. Tourism’s social development benefits will remain a priority as the post focuses on the role of tourism in promoting Brazil’s cultural and natural heritage, including the Amazon rainforest, historical destinations, and distinct cuisine.
Besides luring more tourists, Brazil is looking to expand its tourism options to meet different traveller profiles. Weather for the adventurous, the laid-back, the cultural traveler, or the eco-friendly, Brazil can provide a variety of experiences that can push it as an all-season country for foreign tourists.
Brazil Beyond Days of Darkness: The Future of Brazilian Tourism
With Brazil continuing to grow more than global tourism and with room to grow production of tourists, the country has won the lottery. The higher number of international arrivals and the successful market promotion and infrastructure design lead us to believe that Brazil will continue to be a valuable player in international tourism in the years to come.
Finally, the impressive development of Brazilian tourism in 2025 mirrors the rise of the country’s popularity, as well as its successful tourism promotion. As an increasing number of tourists rush to Brazil from every part of the globe, Brazil’s tourism industry is inching its way into becoming one of the world’s top destinations for travellers.
