From 4 April 2019 there will be twice –weekly services from Heathrow to Charleston, South Carolina. Sean Doyle, BA’s director of Network and Alliances, stated that one will be attracted to the old-world charm of Charleston.
Flights to Nashville and New Orleans was launched recently and earlier this year a new route was announced to Pittsburgh. All the states voted for the current president. In 2016 election Hillary Clinton received the maximum votes with a 51:49 majority over Trump.
But through the Electoral College system Trump won the presidency. It was noted that South Carolina, one of the destination for the latest new route voted 57:43 for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.
Another state instrumental in Trump’s victory was Pittsburgh that switched from Democrat to Republican . The state capital of Tennessee, Nashville voted emphatically with 64:36 along with Louisiana 60:40 .
There were two other new US routes started by British Airways after Trump came to power. Fort Lauderdale in Florida voted 51:49 and Oakland in California voted 65:35, both are from Gatwick. However, by the end of this month BA’s flights to Oakland will be axed indicating all five trump-era links on British Airways are to pro-Trump states.
