Destination B.C. data shows that international arrivals to British Columbia rose by 5.7 per cent over 2017. The rise in the international visits is recorded seventh year in a row.
As per the Destination B.C., there are currently 401 indigenous tourism-related businesses operating in the British Columbia, which rose from 267 in 2014. Over the next two years, 7.2 million visitors are expected in the province.
Maya Lange said that the current statistics for 2018 reflect data until September, but B.C. is on track to surpass records of the last years. Tourism generates U.S. dollars 17 billion annually and employs 130,000 people.
Word of mouth is very important – as visitors share their remarkable experiences with friends and family.
Out of the 5.7 million international trips to B.C., the major markets are U.S., China, Australia and Mexico.
As per a report, customers spent more than U.S. dollars 705 million a year on tourism businesses run by First Nations in the province.
Destination B.C., said that it is providing U.S. dollars one million in funding to the Indigenous Tourism Association of B.C.
The hotels are almost 90 per cent booked and the cruise ship passengers increased by 12 per cent. Destination B.C. is gearing for another record year.
