British tourist killed in horror crash in Spain’s ‘death alley’ road

A British tourist has been killed and her partner and daughter seriously injured in a horror crash in Costa Blanca death alley in Spain. The British holidaymaker was killed just 15 minutes from Alicante airport in the New Year tragedy. The woman is believed to be in her sixties from Bedfordshire, died following a head-on crash with another car just minutes from Alicante airport.

 

 

 

The woman was travelling to a Costa Blanca villa with her daughter and partner after landing at Alicante airport. The accident happened near Santa Pola.

 

 

 

The N332 national highway was closed for several hours due to the accident, causing tailbacks for several kilometers. While the British woman was killed, five other people were injured. Her partner is critically injured and was in a coma when he was rushed to hospital.

 

 

 

 

The British woman died on the scene. The five injured were rushed to the General Hospital of Alicante, the General Hospital of Elche and the Hospital of the Vinalopó. Two of the injured were airlifted by a medical helicopter to the General Hospital of Alicante.

 

 

 

 

 

A number of ambulances and a helicopter rushed to the scene. Firefighters used acetylene equipment to cut four of the victims out of the wreckage. Traffic Civil Guard is investigating the cause of the accident.
