Brits have been warned to not travel by train unless absolutely necessary today as RMT strike action brings Britain to a standstill. Some 40,000 workers under Network Rail ditched their stations this morning, alongside 14 operators, it has been reported.

Only 20 per cent of train services will run today, therefore Brits have been urged to avoid travel at all costs today. This could cause disruptions for the Women’s Euro 2022 semi-final, which is being held in Milton Keynes, following England’s massive win against Sweden.

Speaking on the strikes, RMT head Mike Lynch said that Network Rail has not made any improvement on their previous pay offer and the train companies have not offered us anything new. In fact Network Rail has upped the ante, threatening to impose compulsory redundancies and unsafe 50% cuts to maintenance work if they did not withdraw their planned strike action.

The Government need to stop their interference in this dispute so the rail employers can come to a negotiated settlement with us. Similar walkouts and chaos are expect to hit the tube next month, as TFL workers also plan to hold industrial action.
