Brits warned of Easter travel chaos, UK roads, rail routes to avoid for major engineering works

easterThis Easter Brits have been warned to plan ahead due to major railway upgradation work that will add up to the bank holiday traffic jams. More than 400 sets of works are due to place across the country over the weekend.
The passengers have been urged by the Network Rail to plan their journey in advance and services from four major London stations will remain affected by works and three Tube lines will be part-suspended.
The Overground lines across the capital will be facing disruption.
Thursday was the busiest day on roads according to RAC as three millions Easter driver mix with the usual commuter traffic.
Around 19 million Brits are set to travel this weekend with the largest number of ‘leisure’ trip expected on Friday according to an RAC survey of 3,258 motorists.

 
There will be an increase in road traffic through the weekend due to planned upgrades to the rail lines as per the motoring group.
In anticipation of the increased traffic Highway England will remove works on 99 per cent of motorways and major-A roads.
However, some works cannot be paused over weekend and the motorist will still have to face roadworks that will include 12 miles of 50 mph speed restrictions on the M^ near Coventry and 10 miles of narrow lanes on the M4 near reading.
Major warnings have been issues by the RAC of congestion on major routes across the UK.

 

 

Highways England said it will remove works on 99 per cent of motorways and major A-roads.
With London Euston, UK’s fifth busiest station closed on Sunday will have a reduced service on the previous and following day.
The Londoner’s face disruption because of the rail services as a part of Network Rail’s £118 million works.
Cancellations, diversions and replacement bus services can be expected by the passengers commuting to and from the London Bridge.
Replacement buses should be used between Glasgow and either Carlisle or Preston by those travelling between London and Scotland via the West Coast Main Line between Saturday and Monday.
No trains will run between Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads and Yatton/Bath Spa from Friday to Tuesday April 3 due to significant work in the Bristol area.
TfL has announced closures on TfL Rail, London Overground the Northern, Circle, Hammersmith & City and District lines between Friday and Monday and changes in the services to the Liverpool Street can be expected.

 

 

RAC spokesman Rod Dennis stated, Easter being a little earlier this year than last, their research suggests drivers are just as keen as ever to get away and make the most of the long weekend.
According to their data between Thursday and bank holiday Monday around a million more confirmed leisure journeys by car than in 2017.
The Eater traffic hotspots include the M25 between Gatwick Airport and the M1, the M3 south west of London and the M4 west of London and between Cardiff and the Swansea as per the firm.
