travelportTravelport, the leading Travel Commerce Platform, announced it has renewed its exclusive technology partnership with Bunson Travel Services Ltd, the leading Travel Management Company (TMC) in East Africa, for a period of 5-years.

Bunson Travel Services, which is the partner of the world’s largest TMC, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, based in Kenya, has used Travelport’s cutting-edge technology to give its consultants a competitive-edge and create operational efficiencies since 2013. Today, aided by Travelport’s support, the company has become one of the region’s most highly decorated TMCs, having been named Kenya’s Leading TMC for six consecutive years (2010 – 2015) and Kenya’s Leading Travel Agency for three consecutive years (2013 – 2015) by The World Travel Awards. The company was also crowned best Corporate Travel Agency at the prestigious awards ceremony in 2017.

Travelport is able to help Bunson Travel Services set itself apart in the market by providing its consultants and online channel with real-time access to content from over 400 airlines, 650,000 hotel properties and 35,000 car rental locations. Furthermore, with nearly 250 airlines signed up to use Travelport’s unique merchandising technology, the company is able to display, gain powerful information around, and sell branded fare families and ancillary products (such as paid seat assignments, baggage fees, priority boarding, etc.) from these airlines. Having recently become the first global distribution system (GDS) to be certified by IATA as a “Level 3” Aggregator under its New Distribution Capability (NDC) initiative, Travelport will soon further benefit Bunson Travel Services by creating NDC connections with airlines as they become available.

Commenting on the renewed agreement, Julie Dabaly Scott, Owner and Managing Director of  Bunson Travel Services, said: “In our industry, success is built around the ability of our consultants and online channel to consistently provide personalized, attractive and cost-effective travel recommendations to customers. To achieve these requirements, we need a technology partner that is fast, accurate, and reliable. For us, there is no other Travel Commerce Platform that matches Travelport’s capabilities in these areas today and has its ambition to continually innovate to keep us ahead of the competition in the future.”

Guido Verweij, Regional Managing Director, Africa, at Travelport, added: “We are delighted to renew our long-term partnership with Bunson Travel Services, one of the most successful and sophisticated TMCs in East Africa. This agreement demonstrates the tremendous value we are able to provide travel agencies and our leadership in technology, content and service. We look forward to working with the leadership team at Bunson Travel Services to continually find new ways to set the company apart from its peers and help shape its bright future.”

Nita Nagi, Regional Director, East Africa, at Travelport, concluded: “Over the years, we have developed a close and collaborative working relationship with Bunson Travel Services, which has allowed us to deliver bespoke solutions for the company that have delivered real impact across its business. We are excited to have renewed our partnership today and started a new journey with the firm, built on the strong foundations already laid.”
