The Japanese government is currently keen on marketing domestic tourism through a travel campaign following the lifting of a countrywide state of emergency for the virus spread. However, at the same time, the business leaders are requesting the government to be absolutely sure that it does not cause an overload of travelers.

The Japan Association of Corporate Executives has presented a proposal to manage with a much anticipated recovery in demand for domestic tourism.

The group specifically mentions the timing of reviving the “Go To travel” campaign of the government. This program provided subsidies for domestic travel in support of businesses that are massively beaten-up by the spread of coronavirus.

The Association has also suggested resuming the campaign for the busy season at the end of the year. Also, it suggests discounts for weekends and extended holiday periods.

The proposal also urges for digitalization to take hold of travelers’ need in a better way and offer improved services.
Also, the group wants the government to promote in an even more flexible way to allow more people to travel on weekdays.

The Association plans to discuss its ideas with the government and businesses to promote sustainable growth in the tourism industry.
