By 2024, Ministry aims 4.4 mln new tourism workers

By the year 2024, the government has aimed to have 4.4 million new workers in tourism, as per the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister of Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno.

Uno on Sunday said that they all hope that the labor absorption can enhance the welfare of the community. The tourism workers’ absorption has a major effect on improving the economic income of the people and increasing opportunities related to employment up to six times, said Uno.

In the tourism sector, the Ministry has aimed to have 1.2 new workers.


Uno added that they believe that the sector has the potential to contribute to the economy of the community and manage unemployment.

Through different policies and innovation along with involving stakeholders, the Ministry aims on developing the benefits of the community.

At present, the minister informed that the Ministry is arranging the Indonesian Tourism Village Award which is looking for country’s 50 best tourism villages.

The execution of the tourism village award has given confidence to the local creativity that must be preserved. Besides, it also assists to perk up the tourist attractions that got massively affected due to the pandemic situation.

Uno stated that they are quite hopeful that tourist destinations will go up once again and add to the welfare of the community.


In the meantime, Imam Rismahayadin, the Head of Lebak District Tourism and Culture Office, said that in his region, in the last 10 months, there were 800 thousand visits, both in terms of domestic and foreign tourists.
