The organisations related to Northern Irish tourism and hospitality sector have partnered to introduce a new campaign, planned to give confidence to the people to think about a career in the sector.
This sector employers were requested to get associated in the first phase of this multimedia campaign with the name – “Make it Here”, that will throw a light on the industry, emphasizing the career related benefits into tourism and hospitality.
Tourism Northern Ireland heads the campaign and is supported by the main bodies of the industry like Hospitality Ulster, Hospitality and Tourism Skills network, Northern Ireland Tourism Alliance, Northern Ireland Hotels Federation, Springboard, Bus & Coach NI and a wide variety of employers. It is keen on building ongoing initiatives by industry bodies that would change the insight of careers related to the industry.
Studies taken on 2022 by the Tourism NI found that in the industry, recruitment and retention was the biggest challenge which was cited by the employers, next to the cost of doing business.
Additional research with HATS disclosed that several people in Northern Ireland don’t think about having a career in tourism due to negative perceptions in terms of issues like job security and long hours.
“Make it Here” is hopeful to highlight those insights and emphasize positive aspects of working in the industry which is generally not taken into consideration.
