A cannabis cafe was opened a couple of days ago in Khao San and is attracting thousands of tourists. Khao San, which is a popular area for tourists and backpackers is filled will enthusiastic tourists. The cafe is dedicated to customers with various products of cannabis. No wonder it is already crammed with new customers.

Thailand decriminalised cannabis in June. Several outlets of the same likelihood are popping up across the country. The country has dropped the protocols to help develop the economy of Thailand and recover fast from the pandemic-caused damage.

Foreign arrivals in the country has shrunk to 2 million in the first half of 2022. previously it was about 40 million at the beginning of 2019. RG420 owner Ongard Panyachatiraksa said that he is receiving an immense amount of support from his co-workers. The customers and the market leaders are praising his motive as this is bringing large chunks of tourists and economic stability following this.

In Thailand tourism contributes about 12% to the entire GDP count. Thailand became the first country to legalise cannabis in Southeast Asian countries. This has led to an explosion in research on the recreational usage of the drug.

The parliamentary committee is now debating on passing bills legalising recreational usage of the drug. Till now government officials have only witnessed the negative side of the drug. the national tourism authority’s Deputy Governor, Siripakorn Cheawsamoot said that the law does not focus on recreational cannabis use. With the promotion of tourism, it might move towards acceptance of the drug for medical treatment as well.
